XP x64 4GB system hanging

I've run into a problem of late whenever I use large amounts of memory.
These are graphic files that contain 15million polygons on average , but in the past I haven't had issues working with the files. The viewports and wireframe views worked fine.
Now I'm getting a virtual memory warning, but when I use task manager its showing there is still physical memory left, about 400MB worth.

I notice the commit charge is 5675MB though, which has me puzzled since nothing is using that much memory.

I need to get this resolved as its got me stopped cold on my work 🙁
PC basically locks up and I have to end task on my work to get back to being able to use the pc.

Well still no luck 🙁
I tried increasing the paging file size, but the problem still occurs.
I'm stumped.

The thing is it rotates in the viewport fine for about 5 secs, then the application locks up and I have to end task it.

He's using XP 64, not Vista.

I know XP really has a tendency to drop things off to the page file despite there being free memory. Have you tried raising the pagefile to an even higher amount?

Use Process Explorer to find out what is really using all of your memory.
