system is a bit older system.. a shuttle ai61, mx400, 256meg ram (i know not enough but it shoud do) c-media 4 channle sound and aopen modem..

Everything goes along fine when I am loading it on.. then everytime it gets to 35 mins left on the install window it goes to a back screen with a littl eunder score thing in the upper left hand corner of the monitor..

I don't have a clue what is wrong. I do know if I put in an older version of xp it will bypass that spot and continue to load.. but I don't want to use the older version as it is already on a computer..

thanks for any and all help!

I believe that your video card is causing the trouble. There are some known issues with XP setup and GeForce MX video cards. Do you have an extra video card you could swap in for the install? You can replace it with the nVidia card once setup is complete.

unforutanly every video card in the house is an nvidia card... 🙁

But I have it installed.. but when It went for the final reboot it won't load into windows now.. it comes up and says loading windows xp.. and then the next thing you know it gives you the black screen with the little blinky in the upper left again..

I believe your right on the money with the ram.. I removed one stick and it booted up.. and I'm also leaning towards the c-media sound card doing somethign weird.. as I pull that out and it boots up fine. put it in and it doesn't work.....
