Xp won't activate Screen Saver

Infact neither will it turn the monitor off or set me to away in messenger. After writing a little test program I have discovered that the machine never thinks the desk top is idle.

Has anyone got any ideas why??

might check your bios settings & see what power management looks like. my experience with that was unless power management was just right, xp would not see the machine was idle.

Doesn't sound like your problem, so this is just an FYI. There is a recent XP hotfix that deals with the monitor not turning off due to OpenGL screen savers running (the screen savers are always seen as activity so the monitors don't turn off). So, once you fix this problem, if your monitors still dont' shutdown, you can get the fix from MS.
