XP woes

Got a friends laptop sitting here....It's loaded with Xp an upgrade from Me I think....Works but kinda bloated and sluggish 🙁

He wants to de-gateway it....Partition the drive and make it a dual boot....Only one 10gb partition right now.

The beast wont boot from floppy(dead I think) and wont boot from a cd? I tried to get XP to format the drive but I guess it's not into suicide like the win9x's were....Any suggestions on how I could kill the beast? I tried the recovery console but it wouldn't let me format the drive.

Is there any way I could make it a dual boot by dropping some files into C:\ my system is dual boot xp\98se is there any files I could just copy over and maybe make a folder with boot disk files to dual boot to a dos prompt? I could burn a cd with the files I needed then transfer to the laptop.

Been looking around but have found no cure yet....Thanks for any help 🙂

Just been playing around with XP for about a week myself 🙂
