xp with service pack 2

Hey guys.
OK, just a quick question, say I have an absolute clean installation of Windows XP using a CD that DOESNT have Service Pack 2 installed, but I then install Service Pack 2. Also, say I have an absolute clean installing but using a version of Windows XP that has Service Pack 2 preinstalled. Which is going to be faster or better?

Thanks

I would opt to install the one that has the Windows SP2 preinstalled. From experience, it seems faster to me. Also it eliminates an extra step.

Neither is going to be "faster", however a slipstreamed (preinstalled) copy of SP2 is a safer and cleaner way to do it (there is no SP2 uninstall information, and your machine is safe from most worms and exploits immediately after installation). Plus, as Diz2K2 mentioned, it eliminates an extra step.

I suggest using SP1 then installing the SP2 patch. The reason why:

There is a known problem with DirectX (used in most new games) where you are unable to ugrade from 9b when it comes as part of SP2 as you intial OS install.

I am experiencing that problem now and the only solution offered by MS is to install SP1.

What in the world are you talking about? SP2 comes bundled with DirectX 9.0c. 😕
