Hi,
Work Laptop. HP 6710b. Overdue for a replacement.

The wireless gets disabled as soon as i plug in my LAN cable.
I need access to both wireless and wired at the same time for my voice lab.

What do i need to check.
If it is in group policy, what do i check. Have full admin rights. Happy to re download GP when i connect to work network.

All the VBS scripts that i looked at were about enabling this feature. Could not find anything on taking that enabled setting away.

Thanks
Khoma.

XP doesn't do that natively. There is likely a HP or wireless management application that is doing it. I would start there.

The cards on different subnets. Wireless on 10.10.10.x.
Wired on 172.16.x.x

Windows generally can't USE both at the same time on the same network, but my laptop usually has both wired and wireless connected when I plug in a wire on a network where I also have a wireless profile saved. It just only uses the wired connection since that is set to a higher priority.

Having said that, what Khom wants should be possible. He/she just needs to fix the settings in the wireless control software so that it doesn't automatically disable the wireless adapter when a cable is plugged in.

Thought it was group policy. So deleted it. Still did not work.

The Wireless is an Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN. Cant see anything in the settings there that makes it not see any wireless networks when connected to LAN.

First, click on Start, Run and then type in CMD. Now copy and paste the following command into the window:

secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose

Uninstall the Intel applications, reinstall the wireless card driver only and let XP manage the card.

Actually it can. If you have applications that are... "interface aware" like say Apache, it can run on multiple NICs on the same network.
