Has anyone installed the new CDR patch that appeared on Windows Update in the last few days? (Not the one that showed up a few months ago.)

After I installed it, I can no longer burn audio discs with Nero. I uninstalled the patch, updated my ASPI layer, reinstalled Nero with no fix. It starts to write to the drive but then goes unresponsive after about 10 seconds. At that point, I can't open any more programs or shutdown and have to reset.

I can burn audio discs with other programs, however.

Curious if anyone has installed that patch and tried burning audio - data CD's still burn fine.

Yeah I'm in the same boat... installed the patch, and it broke NERO. Tried uninstalling the patch, reinstalling Neron... nada.
About ready to reinstall XP :|

Well, I can burn data with no problems. It's just doing audio-only CD's that are broken.

:disgust: I have had the same problems with my newer installation of XP home , no Nero burning, before and after Microsofts so called fix that came out the other day. I feel like I threw a $100 bill into the air on a very windy day. This XP is a joke. We hope somebody will write a answer in this forum for us poor saps who fell for MS's advertising ploy. Diamond members gods we need you now more than ever!

No problems at all burning in XP using Nero or CloneCD. I hope I never need to install this "patch".

What Nero version is everybody using? I started with Nero 5.5.5.1 that came with the Mitsumi 24x10x40 burner. Recently I upgraded to nero 5.5.5.8 with no success either. Newsflash! I just downloaded another so called fix from M$ and guess what? Same old thing, it burns to 4% and just sits there red light blinking........then you need to push the reset. I'm to the point of buying another hardrive and installing Win98SE on it then plugging my IDE 1 cord into that new HD and let the other collect dust. I'm still waiting Micro$oft.......

I installed Nero 5.5.5.8 and it accepted my OEM code. Before that I installed the APSI layer and made sure Nero used it.
