Hi all...

As they are priced quite similar (only a few ?s difference) I can't really decide if to get a XP2600+ or a P4 2.4C - what do you think is the better chioce?

With the boxed version of the P4, there is a cooler included, isn't it? How 'bout its noise nevels?

Thank you very much for any hints..

As much as I hate to say it, out of those I would personally go with the 2.4c for the extra FSB speed.

The HSF that comes with a retail Intel processor is a pretty good one and is not loud in my experience.

go with the 2.4C but if you play on o/c-ing, i say spend the few extra bucks and get the 2.6C

Performance is quite similar - I'd buy a Barton 2500 personally and overclock it on an NForce-2 board. I personally support AMD so that there will be competition. I don't go to Walmart, for instance, I go to the smaller stores, even privately run ones, as long as prices are not TOO outrageous. That's just me, rooting for the underdog. IF AMD went under - or that matter, Intel - processors would be much more expensive and development time would be slower too.

I'd go with a 2500+ too,.... wait...I did. I have mine @ 2.3 Ghz 1.65v on an nForce2 myself. I'll go toe to toe with a 2.4c even overclocked. :)

For reference the 2500+ runs 1.8Ghz stock

remember its not just the cost of the CPU, the P4 mobo will likely be much more expensive as well. Either choice is good, both quality products.
