XP, Vista and 7, how do I back up desktop icon positions.

I usually have my icons arranged in a certain way and know where to find things. And it really gets annoying when somebody uses my machine and auto-arranges my icons and I have to spend time finding and then re-arranging my icons.

At home I use a program called iconlock to back up the position, but this is on a work PC where I don't have the permissions to install it.

With windows 98 and the like, if I did a registry restore it would restore the icons, and similarly if I use system restore in later versions it also restores the icons so the positions are stored somewhere in the registry. Unfortunately we don't use system restore at work, if something goes wrong, I get a new PC.

Another way that works is saving a screenshot of my desktop which does work, is still slow and annoying when I have to restore them that way.
