XP User accounts are totally f-ed up!

User account management is simply awful!

I want to make my normal account automanically logon (no password box), so I go to user accounts in control panel and all they have are those gaudy childish icons that let me change the picture or password. WFT?

Then I go to help and I try to find out how its done (I remember how it was in win2k) and it tell me "go to user accounts and click the advanced tab"!!!! There is no advanced tab, there just the gaudy sh*t!!!

Anyone know how to get back the classic style control panel, or to get the advaned options in user accounts? I tried My Computer>Manage>Local Users, but these options arent in there.

Thanks a lot.

I have Control Panel set to display as a menu and have no problem bringing up the normal User Management box. However I've got XP logging into a domain, and from what I've noticed that removes some of the fluff, so I'm not sure if it's the menu setting or logging into the doman that changes that.

Why don't you go through the Computer Management console??? I prefer to make changes there anyway.

Hi

I would suggest installing the Microsoft's Powertoys for WinXp.

You can DL it here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/1.0/WXP/EN-US/PowerToySetup.exe

According to Microsoft, " PowerToys are additional programs that developers work on after a product has been released to manufacturing. They add fun and functionality to the Windows experience! " -- translate "Win Tweaker!! "

Its got the latest Tweak UI with the toy pack. The first Tweak UI released was for Win98? I forgot... But Tweak UI is a small program that let you customize or tweak your Win and IE. To make a long story short, it has the feature that you are looking for : automanically logon !!!

I think you will love the PowerToys 🙂

Thanks, I already had PowerToys, but I guess I didn't notice that Logon thing. It worked out fine 🙂

Btw, Psychoholic, isn't the management console the one you bring up when you right click "my computer" and click on "manage"?

I tried that, but didn't see that option there.
