i saw the news earlier on neowin.net quite a load of updates like you said, it found new drivers for my modem, sound card, P3, and even Geforce2Go

the compatibilities update lists some very popular and important apps as well, so i would recommend getting it, among them is nero 5.5, anti virus software, and much more

Has anyone found a corporate download page for XP yet? I would like to download the updates and burn them to CD for later use.

Well went up and found two updates and took for ever to update and after it rebooted I got a black screen, Everything on the computer lost, Man XP sucks

I had it fail on me too, but I just clicked retry and they eventually started to download.

Im on DSL and its taking forever to get these.
Is Microsofts servers that crowded today?
 
i downloaded the update that fixes the application problems like Nero and Easy CD Creator, and it didn't work, i still get the same error message when i try to run easy CD creator and i still get errors on the taskbar at startup, what's the deal here? should i try doing it again?

Windows Update site is getting hammered right now.Be patient and try back after business hours.Out of 7 updates for my PC,I could only download one and that 1.9mb file took 8 minutes on my cable connection.Again,be patient and check back later.
 
After midnight last nite, I received a crit update notification about a service pack (not official Service Pack 1, but they called it 'service package' or something) that resolved a number of WinXP issues found between final code and Oct 25th. I installed this update last nite, no problems, and system seems speedier. Are these the same updates you are downloading individually, or are there more updates?
 
I have a sound blaster Live! Platinum (not 5.1) and that is the reason why I haven't upgraded to XP yet. I now see that the drivers are on Windows Update so I might have to load XP this weekend on my primary system. Can anyone with the same sound card confirm this fact? I don't want to upgrade and then get booted cause the drivers weren't on the windows update site.

Oh, and Creative hasn't posted their XP drivers yet. Still says mid to late October before they are released. 🙁
 
I've got SB Live Value.....I think the drivers are the same as yours.....I got an update several weeks ago and there was another update this morning. I got it ok, everything is working for me.
 
Oh it downloaded to the computer ok it just took xp for ever to do the auto install then came the blank screen, I am back to me I am tired of xp crash, I don't like that dance any more
 
Great the SB Live update driver made UT sound like the sound was being passed through a grinder. Thank god XP has that roll back feature!

Anyone else having that problem?
