XP Unavailability Anxiety Disorder

i admit, i am a little worried.

i have one copy of Vista Ultimate 32, i don't like it except for the
Speech Recognition capabilities.

so, in 36 hours, we won't be able to buy XP at Newegg ?

maybe one symptom of XPUAD is emailing Newegg support
to seek re-assurance that i will still be able to buy XP at the
Egg after June 30.

however, that re-assurance may not be forth-coming.

i feel like seeking a court order compelling MS to continue
selling XP. but that would be stressful too. another sign of
XPUAD.

there's only one thing to do.

! ! ! BUY ANOTHER COMPUTER ! ! !

buy nVidia so nVidians can eat. buy ATI so AMD'ers can eat, eh.

to buy that one last re-assuring copy of XP, i need a motherboard.
which motherboard ? a motherboard that would fit in a Yellow XQPack.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813121336

the G35 intel motherboard.

$90 for the motherboard, $90 for the OS - $180 to buy my last copy
of XP32. (i already have a copy of XP64).

i think XP is the best OS Windows has ever made. but Windows 95
and Windows 3.1 were pretty cool for their time.

i feel like Hal, right before his power was cut off. but then, XP never
cut off an astronaut's air supply (that we know of).

another sign of XPUAD - the patient babbles about movies with interesting
computer references, 2001 a Space Oddysey in this case.

JUST BUY THE F-ING SOFTWARE ! ! !

OK, all right, i almost talked myself into it.

Realx! It is much more imortant to figure out what your requirements are than to just run out & buy something.
There is no end to the number of used & unopened packages of WINXP currently available for sale ( http://www.agreatserver.com ).
Even then, there are worse things than having to live with VISTA, but I cant think of any right now.

Worst things ,hmm what about people bitching about Vista?....Some people are afraid of change, did you think XP would be around forever.

As to Vista its solid OS from my real usage over the last 18 months.

I was a DOS 6.22 fan,3.1 I really hated.

My guess is as soon as you can't easily find legal copies of XP, you'll see the pirated version pick up in popularity real quick.

It's only the Retail product that won't be orderable from Microsoft after June. OEM System Builder packages are still available until January 31, 2009.

And, don't forget, I've still got a near-new Windows for Workgroups 3.11 box with all the floppies, for those who want to re-live the "good old days".
