XP Turns On NumLock Key At Bootup?

I have the NumLock key set in the Bios to not come on at Bootup, but XP turns it on anyway when I boot up. Anyone know how to stop this? I can't find a setting for it anywhere. Very annoying since I don't use the keypad for numbers.

He said he set it in the BIOS not to come on. At least read the post fully before responding.

That's odd. On all of the systems I've seen running WinXP the default initial NumLock key state was "off". Perhaps its equipment-specific (as in keyboard)?

I took a quick look at the MSKB and found two articles which would seem to pertain to your situation, depending upon whether you're talking about the key status BEFORE or AFTER logon.

Edit: BTW, although the second article doesn't specify Windows XP in the applicable operating systems, I suspect the solution is the same.
