XP to Win7

I have an XP with 2 partitions. the second is for documents and programs. then I have a 2nd drive as backup disc. 32bit. I'm loading 64bit Win7 Pro. Can I just load it on a clean first partition and then still use my documents? I can rebuild the programs.
 
I'm assuming the question is whether the Win7 installer will wipe out the 2nd partition when you go to install it? No, it won't touch the 2nd partition unless you specifically tell it to do so. Once you have Win7 installed, you'd be able to treat the 2nd partition just as how you've treated it using WinXP.
