XP to Vista - Dual Boot Errors

Hey guys, here's my situation.

I have Windows XP installed on my HP computer. My drive is set like this:

C:\ = XP (280GB)
F:\ = Recovery Partition of the HP Pavilion (10GB)

So what I did was install Acronis Disk Manager and did the following:

Make C:\ 40GB and change the name to D:\
Make new C:\ Partition of 240GB that I will use for Vista

So now I have:
C:\ 240GB Empty Partition
D:\ 40GB XP Partition
F:\ Recovery Partition for HP (10GB)

I installed Vista onto C:\ 240GB Partition. All seemed to go well.
Configured Vista etc.
Then when I finally loaded the computer up again, I saw the boot manager screen appear stating:

Earlier Version of Windows
Windows Vista
Recovery Partition

I selected: Earlier Version of Windows ... and an error comes up saying: Disk Read Error ... Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del
Now I'm thinking there may be something wrong with the boot manager. So I installed and ran Easy BCD. Deleted all instances and from scratch added a boot for XP & Vista. Saved.
Restarted computer. Now in the boot manager same thing happens. I pick Vista...it loads up fine. I pick XP ... and same Disk Read Error.

Can someone please help me out?

Any recovery I do on my PC via the Recovery Manager or the Recovery CDs I have for my computer will in effect bring the computer back to it's original state....And taking out the Vista Partition.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
