XP themes...any way to get icons to automatically line up @ top?

For the theme + background I'm using (LakeXP+Morning Sun), there is a black empty space at the top of the BG where I want my icons to automatically go when I "sort by name," etc.; however, I don't want to "lock to desktop" icons...is this possible?

Edit: Or, if that isn't possible, is there any way to keep the "lock to desktop" icons transparent?
