XP Task manager Menu MISSING?

My machine went through this period of crashing after which the menu and tabs (were there any?) on the task manager disappeared.

So, now if I hit CTRL-ALT-DELETE to bring it up, all I see is a box showing which applications are running with 3 buttons at the bottom - End Task, Switch to and New Task.

Where is my menu and how do I get it back?

Double-click the border of the box. It should bring back the menus in the Task Manager.

I was having the same problem. Seems like a crappy feature to have the menu dissapear for whatever reason. Thanks JW.

The reason they disappear is because you double-clicked on it, don't do that and they'll stay put.
