Ok my new system is coming this afternoon in mail.

I've heard system restore is a resource hog, and I'm also not quite sure how it works. Is there a way that say after I install XP and get all the settings/drivers how I want, I can save/backup with system restore...then turn it off so its not slowing system down and use that backup if neccesary?
Also as a different option....if I download a trial version of Ghost or Drive Image is it full featured and stuff? If I use trial version to backup, if I later buy full version can I use that image with no problems? Can I keep the image after the trail period ends? (even if program dont work anymore)
I would just buy ghost/DI but I just spent alot of money and want to wait for a sale/hot deal type thing.
