XP SP3 and XP Corp

I have a legal copy of WinXP SP2 Corporate thru my job. I do not have to activate it when installing.

I have slipstreamed SP3 into my CD; if I load a new system with SP3, will WGA force me to activate or will it do anything funky?

I do not like nor appreciate the WGA spyware crap (that's MHO) and don't want it on my PC.

Your insights are most welcome and appreciated. 🙂

You wont need to activate, but when I tried it you still needed to insert a product key during setup where I believe OEM and retail don't have to for 30 days.

I guess this is just because the corp editions are already activated and admins would just use an answer file with the product key inserted when deploying.

Thanks much, Canterwood. That's exactly what I have to do now; enter the product key in the answer file. No issues with that. As long as I don't have to have WGA loaded on my system, I'm happy.

I'm happy to say that the upgrade to SP3 went w/o a hitch. The only thing it messed with (that I can see anyway) is it reset my Automatic Updates to Automatic. I had it on "Notify me but don't download or install."

My PC was totally up to date w/whatever security patches were previously released up to last week. I also have .NET 1,2 and 3 on there w/all the updates, just FYI.

The whole process including the reboot took about 15 minutes for me. YMMV of course.

So far, so good.
