My settings seem to get wiped out even if I set them as Administrator.

All my icons are good...but I need the My Documents folder to point to the network H: drive (a login profile maps the H: drive to the proper server share on a per user basis).

I also need the desktop set to a company format.

The desktop looks right at the login screen, but as soon as I log in it reverts to the standard 'bliss'.

How do I configure it (I can use Regedit if needed)?

the keys seem to be under:
HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/Shell Folders
HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/User Shell Folders

HKU/[GUID]/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/Shell Folders
HKU/[GUID]/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/User Shell Folders

Everything else in my image is working fine.

Thanks

Group policy could do this very easily. Also, if this is a company wide requirement just make a profile on a computer set the settings the way you like them then upload the profile as default user to netlogon folder and it will be the profile that ALL new profiles are based off of.

Like this.

Edit even if its not a company wide requirement you can replace the default user profile with the one you customized on the base image you are using on the machines in question. (just remember to change the security)

ahh maybe it's security causing me my issue as the background/wallpaper is correct until my admin or user acct logs in. They can't do a GP as it's too broad for the AD group. I will look into that netlogon deal.

I am a noob at this though, but I am taking our 6+ images and I have built a single image with the only requirement to run the chipset driver, join the domain and install Trend AV.

at my current workplace we change the default user profile on our images. "permitted to use" change to "authenticated users"
