Xp sp2 on new 250gb sata drive problem

I did a fresh install of xp with sp2 on a new wd 250gb sata drive. With only xp on the drive it shows 108gb space used with 124gb of free space remaining. XP doesn't use that much space. What has gone wrong with the install?
 
Well, 238GB of total disk space is about right. Might be worth doing a quick disk check and/or defragment to see if the phantom space is freed.

Did you install XP and then update to SP2, or did you install from an XP CD with SP2 already integrated? The original version of XP can't address more than 160gbs I think, so that would probably confuse things.
