XP Sp2 Annoying Beeps

Whenever a windows box opens, my computer makes this really annoying beep sound. It is just a quick beep, but it is really annoying.

Anyone know how to disable this?

Device Mananger -> View, Show Non Plug and Play Devices -> Non Plug and Play Drivers -> Beep > Driver, Type: Disabled

I do want to hear normal beeps, like if a hard drive cable isn't fully connected- I just don't want to here beeps after every window dialogue box comes up.

When I rightclick AIM and sleect exit, a beep comes up and a box asks me if I am sure I want to exit.

From what you're explaining it sounds like you have windows set to make these noises when dialogs appear.

start>control panel>sounds and audio devices>sounds

I'm going to guess you've got a "beep" sound set for question or one of the other options that are typically blank.

This is related to somethin that is driving me batty. I have a p4p800 deluxe running perfect for about a yr. I installed a wacom tablet to the front usb...which had never been used, and appear to work fine w/ no errors. Then sometimes I get a basic beep thru my system speaker. Just whenever. It would go for hrs and not do it. I have been going crazy looking for log and voltage, cpu problems. Since it can beep in windows for cpu, but I don't see problems. I even brought the system thermal down to see if I could trigger it. No luck.

I am not sure how it is supposed to sound if you have a cpu heat issue, but it is just a single beep so I don't think it fits, but they really don't give much info on throttling or system thermal...very annoying. I hate to disable a warning. I have uninstalled the tablet and driver and will see if it happens again. Have to monitor it for a while to see. I can find next to know info on this. Wacom says it shouldn't, but their installation wasn't quite as smooth as other devices. So I don't know whether it is considered pnp. I checked my sounds, but didn't see anything. Anybody else have somethin like that w/ the beep thing? Since mine was not consistent it is really weird. Thinking about getting a zalman cooler anyway, but don't know whether that would void your retail warranty on a p4. Don't see how, but intels warranty is grayer than most, sadly.
