in XP i can set pagefiles for partition C: and D:

I am kind of confused why i would need TWO pagefiles ?

btw.
i get an error
"An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\D during a paging operation." when i have the NVidia nforce4 s/w IDE drivers installed.

I am guessing it could have to do something that i do NOT have a pagefle on partition D ?????

ADD:

i have 1536MB 'recommended for all drives" pagefile which sets on C:, and D: doesnt have one. D: is also only a 1.8 Gig partition and i for sure wont put another1.5 gig pagefile on there

You should not need a page file for each drive, but try a small one say 300mb just to see if there is a dif

No, You do not NEED to have a paging file on both partitions and NOT having one on the other partition doesn't have anything to do with your error. It appears as though the drive is about to fail. I would back-up all user files I wanted to keep then get the manufacturers diagnostics disk and run it to see what it comes up with. If it too comes up with errors I would replace the drive.

i get this error ALWAYS sooner or later when i use the nvidia IDE drivers. I already did drive fitness tests and everything - drive is fine.
It the drivers. I use the standard windows drivers and everything is fine.
