Left my machine crunching SETI while I went on vacation. Came back to a machine that takes 4 minutes to boot up! Any ideas? Everything seems to be normal in the BIOS and setup of the MB. Still cruches SETI at the same speed and the other software works fine at normal speed, but the boot time is unreal! Help!

If you left it on for two weeks crunching numbers non-stop you might want to defrag it and see what happens
about the boot time.

Two things. First, SETI writes so little to the HD that it couldn't possibly effect anything. Second, run this program (Bootvis) and allow it to analyze and then optimize your boot cycle. That should help.

If not, there may be something more sinister going on.
