XP sign-on accounts at startup...

I just reinstalled XP, and there are 3 accounts showing (admin, ASP.NET, guest), despite the fact that only me (admin) uses the computer. Everytime I startup I have to click my icon to get into XP.
Is there a way to just get into XP immediatly?
There are no passwords. I also checked under the User Accounts menus, but no options to just jump into XP at boot.

What I do is define a password for my user account (usually my name). Then I download TweakUI from here.

There is an option in there where you can set an account to login automatically on startup.

Now, I thought by default when loading XP it logs in the user account by default(but not the administrators), so that may be the problem. If you do this, you may want to consider setting up a different user account with "Power User" settings and such. This will give you a little bit more security so anyone getting onto your PC won't be able to do a considerable amount of damage without your knowing.

Or consider setting up a Limited account. It sounds like you somehow got the machine's own Administrator account as yours, so you may need to create a second Admin account and a Limited account if you want to try it. Once done, you can set up auto-login to log you into whichever account you want to start with, using the methods they posted.

Actualy, it seems to have created another account (Admin), that it logs me into that has none of my settings. Now there are 4 accounts! Can I just delete the other 3 redundant ones?

Normally the account named "Administrator" is hidden, and the accounts you create during Windows setup become additional Administrator accounts. You can get rid of all but one of your own accounts, and I don't think you can get rid of the machine's hidden Administrator account no matter what.

If you want to transfer your settings from the hidden Administrator account, start the computer in Safe Mode and choose the Administrator account to log onto, then run the Files And Settings Transfer Wizard found in Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools. Save your files & settings into C:\Documents and Settings\<desired account>\ somewhere, reboot, go into the desired account and use the wizard to import the files and settings.

Inteesting.
I was able to delete all the accounts except for the guest account and the hidden admin account (I didn't try to delet mine, as it has all my programs/settings OK). It still logs into the admin account automaticaly.
IIUC, you are suggesting I assume the hidden admin account and transfer all my settings to it?

Fixed:
very weird. I tried disabling auto-login as per the instructions in the above link. The result was that it boots automaticaly to the correct account. 😕 😎
