Xp shared folders

I have 2 Xp pro machines. If I connect to a share on B from A, it connects immediately. If I connect to a share on A from B it can take a minute or 2 before the share pops up.

ie.

from A, I connect to //computerB/myshare its fast.
from B, //computerA/myshare it takes a long while for it to connect

once connected I am fine. Both machines are on a local network behind a D-Link Cable Router.

Are both machines the same configuration/specs?


I have the same issue at home btw my dad and my computer. He has so many services/crap ware etc it takes some time.

Also, have you tried using the IP address of from A to B instead of using the DNS names. Try that.

I'll try the IP addresses. The computers are different specs, but theres no way that computer B should be THAT slow. I keep my computers lean and free of extra services and crapware.

it still took the same, long, amount of time to connect when I used the IP address.
I checked the route table and that all looks the same. tracert goes directly to the computer... so everything I can think of looks ok.
