xp share dir inherit

I have Windows XP installed on my computer and I am on my University network. When I try to share my C:\stuff folder, other XP users have no problem getting to the folder, but non-XP users can see nothing. I realized this is because the only thing in it was other folders - if I share each of those folders, then they can get teh files. However, this is a huge pain, because each time I create a new folder I don't want to have to set it as shared. Any ideas on how I can get it to inherit?

Thanks!

yea on my univ. network, when people non xp go to my network folder they get access denied... i kinda just want to set up a password for it
