From the microsoft.private.xpsp2.general newsgroup:
A number of URLs/links have been posted for the ordering of SP2 CDs.
Until this page is linked to from the official SP2 page on Microsoft.com,
you may not actually receive your CDs and orders may not be fulfilled since
this page may not be formally actived yet. The fact you receive a
confirmation e-mail is still no gaurentee of a successful order that will
actually be processed.
Please wait for the formal launch of SP2 and the link to this page from the
microsoft.com web site.
We do test our order pages prior to launch and these may well be what you
are using.

You trusted MS enough to install WinXP, but not enough to install SP2? Which is a security release?

I'm just going to get the CD just to have it around. I'm sure eventualy ms will find a way to force everyone that uses XP to install service pack2 in order to continue patching against anymore security flaws that might be found in pre sp2 :/
