XP service packs ?

Slipstream SP2 into the original installation disc (copied onto the HD) and burn it on another cd. That should save you installing SP2 seperately each time you install your OS. You could even include the post SP2 updates and patches on the new disc. It saves a bunch of time!

You can install SP2 without having SP1 installed.

I did that and it corrupted my installation.

Well either you had a corrupted SP2 or you did something else wrong. SP2 is a stand alone update and doesn't require previous service packs for installation.

similar to what was said above, i reinstalled windows the other day so i could setup a dual boot between windows and linux and was too lazy to mess with my main install disc so i just burnt a second cd that includes sp2, antivirus and a couple other usesfull things...i plan doing a newer version of the disc everytime i reinstall...btw keep your network(internet) connection disabled or even unplugged lol till you get all those updates off the disc so your not getting random crud in the process..

Nothing personal but what does this have to do with the original post? The answer is a simple yes, you can install SP2 (as it is cumulative) without installing SP1 first.

With that said, it was an interesting side note that you burnt a CD with SP2, antivirus, and other stuff prior to doing your install regardless of how irrelevant that was to the topic. And because you were so willing to share I thought I?d let you know that tomorrow I?m doing a reinstall on my Grandmothers Dell 386, but prior to the install I?m gonna burn a few DVD?s of her Jimmy Hendrix collection! Hope this helps someone else in the future. Geezzzzz.
