can someone direct me where I can download the service pack 2 for xp. thanks

I only need the service pack 2 . My xp is not the pro but the basic.

There is no "developer" version of XP Service Pack 2. Microsoft simply brands it as such because they want home users to download SP2 from Windows Update.

thanks guys i appreciate it. *deketed bill gates.

Keep your language clean in here, k?

You asking for help. You do not even read correctly.

Quote: "Windows XP Service Pack 2 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers

Brief Description

This installation package is intended for IT professionals and developers downloading and installing on multiple computers on a network. If you're updating just one computer, please visit Windows Update".

End of Quote.

It does not say "only", and it say "please visit Windows Update".

There is Not one word forbidden the download.

I am sure that Bill gates never did any thing to you, and While he is contributing Billions for Human causes you contribution to humanity the use of the F word even when you get help.

Yes, the understanding is that MS wants home users to install SP2 as download via the internet update service as the "Windows XP Service Pack 2 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers" is quite large (272,391KB!). To my recollection, a pure & simple SP2 as a single file download was never available (only possibly via ordering a disk, but my understanding is that MS has discontinued the disk order option).

MS has two reasons for wanting most folks to use Windows Updates to get their service packs:
1) The downloads are much smaller when using Windows Updates.
2) Windows Updates will ensure that any prerequisite updates have been installed before installing the service pack.

IT professionals may update a large number of PCs and won't want to use Windows Updates each time. But being able to update ANY PC with a single package requires the full SP2 download (the 270 MB one). And an IT professional will know how to determine if the PC has the prerequisite updates before attempting the service pack install.
