As one of the MSN software beta testers, I got this email today dictating a "mandatory" upgrade of MSN beta software to the latest release. The interesting blurb is why the release is necessary:
"What are the changes in Beta 7?
The most significant change in Beta 7 is that Windows XP Service Pack 2 will now be supported."
It also said that testers could not sign on after Feb 5 unless they had installed this mandatory upgrade.
Logically, then, it would appear that Feb 5 is the day or very near the day the new XP service pack will hit the streets in final form.
I haven't seen an actual release date posted elsewhere, but if so, I guess I missed it. And yes, I know the beta has been out for some time.
