I just ordered a new hdd and I am planning to reinstall window. Currently, I got a window xp sp 1 disk. Am I better off slipstreaming sp2 or sp3 to my xp installation using nlite? If so, how can I find standalone installation file for those?

Before you do that, uninstall IE7 if that is your browser. If you install SP3 OVER IE7, it will no longer be uninstallable.

1. Uninstall IE7

2. Install SP3

3. Reinstall IE7.

I dont think sp1 had ie7, so you don't even need to do that. Why do you want to uninstall ie7 anyway? It's leagues better than 6. Just slipstream sp3 and save yourself some time.

Exactly.

And none of the service packs have WMP10 or IE7 in them.

They are seperate downloads. So there is no way that an SP1 disk could have IE7 because IE7 came out way after SP2.
