XP Search, Slllloooowwww?

I am having two issues with the Search (filles and folders) feature of Windows XP.

1) Why does it take soooooo long to search for something on my 40Gig HDD under XP, I'm talking around 15-20 Mins whereas in Windows 2000 it only took me a few minutes or even less and voila, the results.

2) Why is the display of the search results slow as hell? eg. If I try and scroll the contents of the search results window, the display pauses for a second or two (100% CPU) and then chugs along and updates the display. I don't have any problems with any other windows except for the search one.

I have downloaded all of the patches from the windows update site. None of them seems to have fixed the issue though.
