I have bought a signficant amount of recording software/hardware, and was planning on using my computer (in my sig) for recording.
I found a virus on computer and decided, what the heck, why not move up to Vista after I reformat?
So I did, and after doing so, found out Pro Tools doesn't work on Vista!
So, since I have 250G on my hard drive, I figure, why not partition 30G and put XP on there and install pro tools on it.
Well, I got so close last night, but ran in to the final roadblock after all of this.
1. Used GParted to Shrink my partition from about 230 to 200, and make another partition for XP.
2. Repaired Vista (It didn't work after I used GParted)
3. Booted using the XP disk
4. The XP disk did not recognize my SCSI drive.
5. Came back to anandtech, you guys told me to slipstream using NLite.
6. Slipstreamed my JMICRON RAID CONTROLLER into a new installation of XP.
7. Burned the .iso onto a new DVD, and attempted to install it on the partition.
8. The new DVD windows installation recognized my new partition (YES! so close to recording!)
9. It supposedly correctly installed windows, and then restarted!!
10. Windows starts to boot, and then BLUE SCREENS!! AHHHHH (@#$%!!! @#$@#!!!)
11. (@#$%!!! @#@$%!!!!)
12. So we looked up the error message, and said that it couldn't recognize the boot device.
Why wouldn't XP be able to recognize the boot device? I had XP before.....
Any ideas?
Another random thing, when it said I had XP but it kept crashing, I had three XP choices to choose from? What the heck? I could pick Windows XP Profession #1, #2, or #3.
Thanks in advance!
