XP screen saver wont work

I have a new Dell 8400 with 17" Dell Ultrasharp. Ever since I got the thing I could never get the screen saver to work. I set it to come on and it never occurs. The only thing I can get it to work is system standby.

Anyway I just recently reformated the hard drive and reistalled XP. The screen saver actually worked for a day or two. It seemed to stop working after one of the XP updates, maybe SPII. Not sure which one it was since I pulled a bunch of them down over a short period of time. Is there a know problem with XP screen savers after installing updates?
 
I went to msconfig, and under boot.ini did a safe boot. Set my SS to 1 minute and it came up, and shortly after the monitor shut off....

Turned out to be my Belkin Nostromo Software. Turned it off, and everything worcks fine now!

Must be something recently installed!
