XP school edition no longer valid?

I bought XP Pro from the bookstore at Indiana University a few years back. I recently upgraded my motherboard, new video card, and added a second HD. I did a clean install of XP Pro, using my original CD. I do not have this installed on any other system.
(My laptop came with it's own copy of XP. )

When trying to validate it, It said to call MS. When calling them, (Which I tried a couple of different times and got the same answer from different customer service folks). They are telling me I have to buy another XP Pro, as they no longer support the University edition of XP Pro.

Has anyone else heard of this?

Thanks,

Bob

I have a valid university edition, and the Indiana University agreement even stated that after we leave as a student, that we OWN the copy of whatever we purchased. Microsoft is saying otherwise now...... I don't want to change to Vista. If I purchase ANOTHER copy of XP, are they gonna pull the rug out from under me in another year or so??? 😉

I might change back to WIN 98 second edition......

Thanks for the thread referal...

Bob
