XP s l o w refreshing folders at startup???

I don't know what the deal is but it takes a long time once I am windows xp to see any of my folders and files if I go to My Computer or explorer.

Anyone know a solution? I am not sharing any folders (that I know of).

I have been searching for anything like that and couldn't find anything. Let me know where to look to make sure...I am coming from Win98SE so the interface is alot different for me.
