Ever since the first boot after install..

XP does a disk check on my D: drive..

not my C, E, or F drives.. even though they are the same hard drive.. just a different partition..

should I be worried? if not.. how can I dodge this?

Is the drive correctly recognised in DISKPART and in the BIOS?

What do the scandisks show? Any errors?

Try running a scandisk and get it to mark any bad clusters

Hate to be a killjoy, but I've had this problem too, I did multiple scandisks, repairs, etc. The only way I got it to stop doing it was to reformat. IIRC, it's a known "bug" (read: fvcking PITA) in XP w/ SP1.
