This will be a simple Question for someone ,but I need to know,
I have xp on E: no C: and have backups from E: using XP backup ,but I will be reformatting E: to add another drive to raid0,system needs a clean install and reloading of DATA,
when I re load XP to C: will I be able to restore the backup made when O|P was on E: into new install on C: or how is this done ?
thanks

You need to restore your XP backup onto E:.

If you put it onto C:, all of the built-in references to file locations will be wrong, since they'll all be pointing to E:.

If you need XP on C:, install XP from scratch onto C:, re-install all your applications programs, and restore your data files from the backup to wherever you want, including C:.

I agree with RebateMonger.

The problem is that your backup of E: was made using XP backup.

If your backup had instead been made using something like Acronis True Image, or Nero Backup, or similar application (there are several others), then in that event you would have been able to restore the backup to the new system drive and it'd be functional.

So for the future, it is suggested that you consider buying Acronis True Image, or find a freeware substitute for it.
