XP Repair question ( Home Edition )

Savatage

Senior member
Getting random BSOD's. Trying to use the repair funtion off the XP Home ( full CD ). I do have an Admin password, but when asked to enter it ( getting into the XP repair funtion ) it tells me it's not the right password. I am entering the password case sensitive. If I just hit " enter " at the password prompt it'll take me to " C:\WINDOWS " and nothing further. So I'm stuck trying to run the repair. Any Ideas ?

System specs:

AMD 1.4 Ghz ( 266 )
Soyo SY-K7V Dragon
RAID 0 (2) WD 40GB/7200
Geforce 2 Pro ( 22.50 drivers )
SB Live X-Gamer 5.1
350 WTT Enermax
ect.

All XP updates installed. And drivers updated.

BTW, I've narrowed it down to two possible problems in reguard to my XP OS:

1.) Norton Utillities 2002, ( Since has been uninstalled ) May have made some changes in the " find windows problems " after I ran it.

2.) The RAID 0 instablities ?

Anyway ......

In the past I have just skipped the Recovery Console and continued with an installation. Windows usually gives you the option of repairing an existing installation and saving your setting and apps. I don't know if this helps but good luck....

ChunkiMunki,

Thanks. I didn't notice that option in the othe XP installs I've done. I just ran it the way you mentioned. Hopefully this will take care of the random BSOD's.

Thanks again.
