XP registry tweak for L2 cache?

Isn't there a registry entry that one could edit in Windows XP to address how XP is, by default, optimized for cpus with 256k L2 cache? I remember there being a value to change and I did but didn't really notice a difference..

Anyone heard of this?

L2 cache is a hardware thing, even if the OS isn't aware of it the cache will still be used by the processor. The usage just won't be 'optimal'.
