XP reboots on shutdown

Do you have EZ CD Creator 5? That's been the biggest culprit. Update to 5.03 on the website and all it peachy 🙂.

Skyking, yes I am attempting to Shut Down using the OS I click Start > Shut Down > Turn Off the Computer.

KnickNut3, I have EZ CD Creator 4.05 installed. In fact, this all started after I reinstalled EZ Creator following the appearance of the XP Compatibility Update allowing it to run.

Ditto for me too 🙁 EZ CD Creater 4.05 and not shutting down but rebooting....

<< In system/advanced/startup&recovery, uncheck "automatically restart" for system failure. >>

Yeah, I was searching through the forums and saw that, tried that, and no go for me. Basically gave me a new version of BSOD. I uninstalled Direct CD and Easy CD Creater and solved my shut down problem. But then an hour later it wouldn't want to boot up 🙁 Solved that by reinstalling the OS.

Kilgore65, I would either do what Doh! said and if its anything like my problem, live with it or unistall it and look for another program that Win XP will make you sink more money into.....

Yep, I uninstalled EZ CD Creator 4.0 and Direct CD, cleaned the registry with Norton Systemworks 2002, and now I'm back to normal - no more reboots and/or neo-BSODs. Sucks that I'm going to have to go out and buy fully functional CD burning software.

I know the feeling..... I like the Direct CD because I had programs setup to save files directly to the CD-RW and modify the data on the CD-RW very easily. I thinking about Nero myself.
