XP re-logon (suspended session) -- what triggers?

I've spent an hour beating my head against the "Help and Support" Search function and I cannot find anything that clues me in on this:
Under Win XP Pro, how do I control the inactivity timeout -- after which the user has to log in again?

This is a home installation (no network admin), and my sister says the system I set up for her requires a re-login after only a few minutes. I'd like to extend the interval on her system, but I can't identify how/where this is set!

Jeez, this seems like a ridiculous question... but I often find that Help and Support tool just doesn't help if you don't already know the magic words to search for.

Thanks for any pointer.

Did you change the screensaver timeout? If you don't want to log off at all, just change screensaver to none. Right click anywhere on the desktop and go to Properties. You'll see the screensaver tab.

I'd already played with the Screensaver Timeout: when I set it to 1 minute, the screensaver kicked in, but the Session wasn't suspended. When I hit a key, the screensaver image disappeared and there was no requirement to log in again.

The inactivity timeout I'm referring to differs: when it kicks in, one faces the blue Login page where you select which account you wish, then enter the password. The programs which were alive are still alive -- the session wasn't terminated, it was just suspended. It isn't based upon keyboard inactivity as I have an audio-tape capturing program which runs for three hours: while it is capturing data the Session remains active, but when it becomes inactive, awaiting keyboard input, the session can suspend.
