Installed XP pro a few weeks back on a new raptor hd. Activated with no problems. Just rebooted a minute ago and got a message saying my hardware has chaned since activation so it needs to be re-activated within 3 days. Only problem is my hardware has not changed at all.
It's almost like they are forcing people wiht legit copies to acquire a corporate version that doesn't need to be activated ever.

Anyone kow why it would do this or if this is common????

It's common if you have a hardware problem causing corruption, or possibly some infection/spyware on the box.

Atleast the callcenter reps don't bother you too much. I think I've called that number 10 times. I guess its hard for them to believe that people ACTUALLY reformat their systems! Oh my... 😉

I haev had XP for almost as long as it's been out but the last 2 or 3 installs I have had to call, I think. It's really not that big of a deal but it is inconvienient sometimes.
It just puzzled me because there have been no hardware changes since I installed XP this last time. Alos no spyware that i know of???
Thanks.
