XP RC-2 to XP Home?

Anyone:
Currently have 24 days remaining on RC-2 evaluation period. According to MS, I can only
upgrade to XP Professional from RC-2. I would prefer to just go with XP Home.
My question(s): Can I fdisk and remove the RC-2 and then do a clean install of XP Home?
To fdisk, can I run from a Win 98SE Start-up disk? Otherwise, any suggestions on how to
remove RC-2?

Thx.
Thar.

Yes.

Yes, but if you have XP running on NTFS, then the Win98 FDISK will only see it as a "NON-DOS" Partition.

You should (might) be able to boot from the XP Home CD, and from there delete the partition using XP's FDISK or thru
the setup process. Or you can boot from the RC-2 CD and use FDISK from there, then boot from the XP CD and let
it setup the system that way.

do what Cquinn did, however, i have one thing to add:

even if your machine is formatted in NTFS, it is true that fdisk wouldn't be able to touch it, however, you could always wipe it off with fdisk as well as using format.com that should be on that boot disk.

hope that helps and someone please correct me if i am wrong...

As was posted, just boot from the install CD and delete the current and recreate the partition from there.
