XP randomly drops my dialup connection

this is damn weird
using XP SP1 (did it before installing the updates too)

just randomly disconnects, no warning, no message, no questions, just freakin disconnects

using a creative modem blaster

is this a weird windows bug, or just more likely my ISP knocking me off for some reason?

software i think, figured it was my isp bu thought id ask

most annoying is, like i said, it doesnt tell me i need to reconnect, sites just start "refusing connection" or whatever it is, gah, stupid windows

Some of us don't have the option to get cable or dsl. Out in rural america, these aren't even options. And satellite is too $$$.

Maybe it's an odd coincidence, but my Creative Labs External Modem Blaster v.90 generally drops the line after about an hour or so. It's not the line or the ISP, since my cheap internal Lucent chipset-based PCI modem will work reliably (and faster) for 7 or 8 hours straight. I got extremely pissed off at it (the Creative Labs modem), and just unhooked it and set it in the closet. :disgust:

Perhaps I'll get a decent quality external modem like a USR or something else someday.
