xp random freezes solved

Suddenly my windows xp pro setup started randomly freezing.
It could have been anything but following a particular path is a quicker way to find out what is going on.
I checked the logs. As below
Control Panel - administrative tools - system tools - event viewer - system
In system I found = error atapi with a date and time recurring many times.
I had forgotten to take out a CD from the dvd drive which was causing the problem. Once I took it out all is ok.
Nearly did a reinstall phew that was close.😀

Though the removal of the CD from the drive improved things I still had one such freeze with the same error. Thus had to disconnect the DVD drive and have had no problems since.
Strange that this DVD drive which I hardly use started playing up all of a sudden.
 
I have had no problems since I disconnected the DVD drive. strange why all of a sudden it should start playing up. but fixed now.
