Ray covered the main reason why I like XP. My HP Scanjet 3300C has terribly crappy drivers that don't work right with Windows 2000 (no fault of Windows, this time, but rather HP). However, XP has built in drivers with an interface that is a thousand times nicer and easier to use than HP's crappy scanning application, so I use XP. 🙂Originally posted by: MoFunk
There are times that XP does what it is supposed to do! I also use XP for just this reason. I did not even load any software for my card reader, windows did it for me. Then all my wife needs to do is pop in the card and pow off she goes! It's great. I have slowly turned into an XP fan. You have to go through and do a little tweaking to get it to run faster, but after you do it is worth it. I run all my home systems on XP Pro, until I get time to build my server which will probably get server 2000, but 2003 is very nice also!Originally posted by: RaySun2Be
I'm a big fan of Win2KPro, but I have a client that uses XP, and he (a dentist) just bought an expensive digital camera and flash card reader. He wanted to be able to take pictures of his patients teeth, then copy them to CD-ROM so he can stick the CD-ROM in their case file. After he tried loading the software that came with the card reader, (which didn't work) I used the built in features of XP to create a simple process to read the pics and burn them to CD. It was painless and smooth, and even he can use it. I was impressed by how easy it was to use.
