XP Pro / XP Pro x64 dual boot partition sharing problem

I split my hard drive into two partitions; one for XP Pro and the other for XP Pro x64. I installed XP Pro on the first partition (drive letter C:\) and XP Pro x64 on the second partition (drive letter E:\). While logged into XP Pro x64, it's possible to run applications on C:\, but all of the settings from XP Pro are gone. Also, some software on XP Pro x64 defaults installation files, settings, and/or data to C:\, which results in a very confusing and disorganized setup.

I would like to "hide" the XP Pro partition from XP Pro x64 or force both OS to be C:\ when booted. Is this possible or is there a better way to keep things organized? I'd basically like to keep each OS and all of its applications/drivers on its own partition for organizational reasons. Both OS will be using a lot of the same applications, but I don't mind installing them twice (once on each partition) and actually I would prefer to do it that way, but I am open to suggestions as I am not sure what the best practice is when it comes to dual booting Microsoft Windows.
