I had pro, but long story short, i sold it and now i bought home
i thought i could just "upgrade" but now it says cannot go from pro to home. is there anyway to do that? because i really dont wana format

thanks alot

david

In Microsoft's view, Pro is an upgrade to Home

So you'll have to format, unless there is some undocumented method I am unaware of.

use the files settings transfer wizard to save your setup and re-import on the new install.... if disk space is sufficient then shrink your partition and install in a new one.... makes it easy... then after retrieving your data delete the old install and stretch hte newer one...

Should be able to be done in less than 3 hours with all updates and everything

this is closer to the answer i was looking for....

in files settings transfer wizard, can i save the registry and stuff like so all programs will work?
or does that essentially just save background settings and my documents and stuff?

thanks
david

any more ideas bump?
